World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest
There's nothing else like it! Held every Memorial Day weekend at the Hotel Pere Marquette in Peoria, IL (its site since 2002). See contestants in two divisions compete for ten cash prizes...and get the "old time" of your life.

National Old-Time Country and Bluegrass Festival and Contest
See and hear country music performed the way it was before Shania and Keith and Garth and Faith came along. 600 performers do their thing on ten stages during the week before Labor Day...and don't be surprised to hear one of the all-time greats! Starting in 2008, it'll be held at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds in Le Mars, IA.

Bitterroot Valley Ragtime Society
Who said they stopped playing ragtime in Big Sky Country? Come out to the Hamilton Public House in Victor, MT, where BVRS meets the first Saturday of each month. Founder Gina Tiernan's (remember her from the West Coast Ragtime Society?) group celebrates not only rags, but early jazz, blues, boogie woogie, and stride, too.
